What if the World was a Village of 100 People?

There is something unique about data visualization and infographics that can really get a message across, especially The World of 100 project by Toby Ng Design. According to brain pickings, “the power of this smart graphic design coneys big concepts that are otherwise hard to grasp in their raw numberness.” The idea takes the entire globe and puts demographics like literacy, freedom, food, religion, and computers onto a scale of just 100 people. The design is very simple and uncomplicated, using bright colors to get the powerful message across. Some of the numbers are truly mind-boggling, for example of our awesome little settlement of 100, only 1 has a college education. Also, 48 can’t speak or act according to their faith and conscience due to harassment, imprisonment, torture or death. Look below, this is the world we are living in.
